Sometimes photos present odd problems. Some element in the photo does not go well with the rest of the image. How do we remove such portions. Of course these problems are unique. Each one requires a different technique.
This is one such photo. It belongs to Flickr member Patriot 1958
He would like the pipe at the left removed.
Step 1 : The first thing to do is to zoom into the image.
Step 2 : Click the Rectangular Marquee Tool.
Step 3 : Draw a selection with the Rectangular Marquee alongside the entire length of the pipe.
Step 4 : Press CTRL+J. The selection is copied and pasted onto a new Layer 1.
Step 5 : Press CTRL+T. A selection forms.
Step 6 : Press the Left Arrow Key on the keyboard to move the selection over the pipe.
Step 7 : The pipe has been covered.
Step 8 : Press ENTER. The pipe has been covered, but a thin line remains.
Step 9 : Press CTRL+T again. A selection forms again.
Step 10 : Drag the middle right handle to right.  Move the left handle to the left. Press Enter.
Step 11 : The image looks like this. A thin line remains on both sides.
Step 12 : Click the Clone Stamp Tool.
Step 13 : At the top change the Current Layer to Current & Below.
Step 14 : Press the Clone Stamp, which works just like a brush on the visible stripe. To make it small press [ (left bracket). This is to make the Brush just a bit bigger than the line to be removed.
Step 15 : ALT+CLICK beside the stripe with the Clone Tool.
Step 16 : Place the Clone Stamp on the stripe. Click Once. Press SHIFT.
Step 17 : Click at the bottom. Repeat this process till the straight line disappears at the right.
The straight line has disappeared.
Step 18 : Click the Clone Tool. ALT+Click beside the straight line at left.
Step 19 : Click once with the Clone Stamp Tool at the top of the line. Press SHIFT.
Step 20 : Keeping SHIFT pressed click at the bottom.
Step 21 : Do this a number of times. till the stripe disappears.
Step 22 : Zoom into the image. Use the Clone stamp to ALT+Click to clean up the roots which have duplicated.
Step 23 : The duplicate roots have diappeared.
