In a previous tutorial I talked about creating a Google code account and how to host javascript. Today I will show you how to create a Google Site for hosting different files. You can host pictures, archive mp3 files and lots more.
Why is useful a google site ? Well I use google sites for hosting the flash files ( .swf ). as you all know blogger doesn't support uploading flash files, and if you want to add a flash widget or a flash header you can't do it without hosting the flash to another place.
Also the files hosted can be downloaded so you can offer your visitors the option to download the files.
For creating a Google Site you must have a google email address ( xxxx@gmail.com).
How to make a Google Site for hosting flash files, archive and other files
1. Go to: Google Sites and log in with you gmail account
2. Click on Create New Site
In the new page you will have to choste a couples of things.
First:
1. A template for your site
2. The name for the site
3. A theme color
4. Description of the site
After creating the new site you will have to create a new page where you will upload the files. So click on Create page
After creating the page you're ready to upload your files. Click on attachments and choose from you hard drive the file to be uploaded. The file will be uploaded automatically without you pushing another button.
For viewing you file click on View. To copy the link to your file just right click on view and then choose Copy Link Address ( google chrome) or Copy Link Location ( mozilla firefox ), then paste the link where you need it.
The link will be something like this:
https://sites.google.com/site/test1234567890xcvb/test/navi01.swf?attredirects=0
Just delete the red line and then use it . That's it. If you have any questions just add your comment bellow.
